Heck of a good wake.

My 11-plus-year-old Beagle/German Shepherd mix, Nelli, passed away after a precipitous decline, at home, this morning.  Good old dog.  Back from leaving her remains at the vet's, I gathered the remaining dogs for a wake, fed 'em what was left of the can of Pedigree I'd bought for her last meal, and we sang a canine version of "The Parting Glass."

"Of all the money e'er I had,
I spent it in good company.

And all the harm I've ever done,

Alas! it was to none but me.

And all I've done for want of wit

To mem'ry now I can't recall

So fill to me the parting glass
